Patricia was called "Morning Star Woman", the daughter of

Jĕs´sakkīd´ Pat Brunelle, sister of Albert Dennis Lambert

"Ogimaa Ma'Lingaan". She was the matriarch of the family,

Red Bear Band, Pembina Chippewa Nation, Reindeer Clan,

Wolf Clan, Sturgeon Clan, and Beaver Clan.

She was the matriarch of the Red Bear Band. The direct granddaughter of

Grand Nokomis Margaret Machequayaince Ahdik Songab through her father Elmer Patrice Brunelle through Isabella "Mi-Ji-Gi-Si" Montriel; through her mother Mary Albina Brunelle (Dejarlais) through Francois Marie Oke-Ne-Kih-Kwe Desjarlais (Bottineau). She is also directly descended in matrilineal unbroken line to Grand Nokomis Marguerite Utinawasis Songab Okichita. With one of the most prolific Pembina Chippewa bloodlines in existence.

Ogimaakwe Patti, stood for tribal sovereignty; taught us that our heritage is sacred. Her grandchild Nibwaskaa and Midegah were called by Patricia to be the Ogimaa and the Ogimaakwe of the tribal community.

Patricia holds the Life Estates of Julianne Brunelle (Montreuille) and Joseph Kaishpa "The Elevated One" Gourneau.

The Clan Mother is very important in the role of Ojibway culture. When the

Peacemaker came to the warring people, it was a woman who first accepted

Peacemaker’s vision of peace. Because of her vision the Peacemaker gave women important duties in the O'Jibway, the Clan Mother.

The Clan Mother holds much weight in the O'Jibway. The Clan Mother is a leader not only of her clan, but of the nation as well. The Clan Mother selects their spokesman (Ogimaa or Chief) to represent them in council. If their Ogimaa doesn’t represent their clan, the Clan Mother has the authority to remove their leader as well after warnings. The Ogimaa and the Clan Mother work together to best represent the people of her clan.

Not only is the Clan Mother working with the chiefs in making decisions for the people, they also have the duty to ensure that our way of life continues. The Clan Mothers gather and sit to decide when the ceremonies will begin. Then the Clan Mothers supervise the procedures of the ceremony, the food, and soups that are needed. The Clan Mothers are so integral, that the ceremonies cannot begin without the Clan Mothers present.

Children are the future of any community and the Clan Mothers are important in raising the children. When a new baby is born, it is the Clan Mother who provides the name of the baby of her clan. It is said that the Clan Mother has a bag of names at the ready. When a person passes away from her clan, she takes back that name to be used again for future member of the clan. All daughters of the Ogimaakwe Patricia Rose Lafountain are hereditary Clan Mothers by blood birthright, no Clan Mother for the Red Bear Band can be called from an outside tribal nation; all Clan Mothers must be descendants of the Red Bear Band by bloodline.

The Clan Mothers also make sure that the children are raised in the ways and customs of the Longhouse. They are often teaching the young and old of the ways of the O'Jibway. Often when people have questions or there is a dispute among families, often it is the Clan Mother who is sought after for guidance. Their words hold great weight in the community. The Clan Mother holds an important role in both the political and social world of the O'Jibway.
